Hi, I’m Sarah

Hello! My name is Sarah and I have been passionate about animals since I was a little girl. I grew up with many animals and dogs and knew I wanted to work with dogs from a very young age. I began at 14 when I volunteered in my first vet hospital, wanting to be around animals in any way I could. I would walk and wash my neighbours and friends dogs and got my first real animal handling job at a doggy daycare. I quickly grew attached to the dogs I work with and truly loved my job. Within 6 months I acquired an assistant manager position and continued on in doggy events, washing, and care.

During this time is where I first got my Black Labrador, BamBam. Her name is BamBam for a reason and that's cause my beautiful girl was a big ball of energy as a puppy. I had a big learning curve with her because while I loved animals, cared for them and worked in the animal industry, I realised how little I actually knew about how they learn, why they do certain behaviours, why puppyhood is so important and how to create a confident dog. When BamBam was a rambunctious teenager, I sought out Training for the first time and boy did my life change. I found my true calling, I found my passion and quickly became obsessed with the big beautiful world that is Dog Training and Behaviour. I started to work alongside some incredible Trainers and some not so incredible trainers. This was important to me as I got to experience where the dog training industry is at first-hand and really think of the type of trainer I wanted to be. How I wanted to empower owners and allow them to enjoy the dog they have. How I wanted to create confident, fearless and high-achieving dogs. How I wanted to foster an open, loving and caring community for dog parents. That's why in February of 2024, I launched my business, Peak Canine Coaching.

6 months prior to this, I enrolled in Steve and Vicki Austins Dog Behaviour and Training Course. After a year of intensive online learning, in-person workshops and training multiple dogs per day on site, I graduated and received my certificate in March of 2024. Becoming a Certified Dog Trainer with the Austins was an incredible experience. I got to apply real results and science to my undying love for dogs and enjoyed every bit of it. I will never stop wanting to learn and absorb as much as I can.

I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have met the wonderful families and dogs I get to help and work with. I am so happy to have you here and am excited to cheer and mentor you through your dog’s training journey.

My Approach

Throughout my coaching career, you hear, “It’s me that needs training, not my dog.” This is 100% true and is my approach to coaching you through reaching your goals with your dog. Training is not linear and is a beautiful rollercoaster that is a dream to do alongside someone you can trust.

When you choose to engage in training sessions with me, you are entering into a partnership committed to the success and well-being of your canine companion. Integral to this partnership is a mutual understanding that achieving desired results requires dedication, effort, and active participation from both parties. My training approach follows the principles of LIMA (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive), ensuring that our methods prioritize your dog’s well-being and comfort.

By enrolling in our training program, you acknowledge your responsibility to invest time and energy into the training process, consistently implementing the techniques and strategies provided. Your involvement in the training sessions, as well as your commitment to practicing and reinforcing learned behaviours outside of our sessions, are crucial components in fostering lasting progress and strengthening the bond between you and your dog. Together, we will work collaboratively to achieve the goals set forth, ensuring a rewarding and fulfilling experience for both you and your beloved pet.
